Common faults in tapered roller bearing maintenance

time:2024-01-16   pv:2

Tapered roller bearings are mainly used in automobiles, mining, plastic machinery and other industries. During the use of the bearings, maintenance is a necessary way to maintain the tapered roller bearings. When we perform maintenance on the tapered roller bearings, we will find that the bearings often appear Some problems are common bearing failures in our daily lives.

1. pitting

Pitting: refers to small pits that are scattered or clustered on the surface of a part.

When we open the tapered roller bearing during maintenance, we will find that the bearing has many pits in the inner ring raceway, which causes the rollers on the cage and the inner ring raceway to gradually produce a temperature rise during rotation. , resulting in a hot shaft, the bearing must be scrapped.

Causes of pitting on the raceway surface of tapered roller bearings:

① Metal surface fatigue, microscopic cracks formed in the metal subsurface layer under the cyclic action of rolling contact stress, and gradually develop into pit-shaped micro peelings.

② The presence of inclusions or large carbides in the subsurface of the metal causes stress concentration, causing premature microcracks and gradually developing into peeling.

③ Improper assembly or poor lubrication.

2. Bearing skinning

Bearing skinning: refers to the extremely thin metal peeling phenomenon that occurs on the bearing surface due to fatigue.

Bearing skin grinding is one of the common faults in bearing maintenance. This fault is often found during the appearance inspection of the bearing. The following set of bearings is a bearing worker who discovered abnormal noise during the rotation inspection. After disassembling the bearing, it was found that the rollers were scratched and discolored, and the inner raceway of the outer ring was grinded.

The reasons for the skinning of the bearing raceway surface are as follows:

①The metal surface gets tired early. Extremely shallow fatigue spalling caused by rolling contact stress and sliding friction.

②The material is poorly heat treated.

③ Poor lubrication.

④ Overload stress effect.
